SANTA FE ELEMENTARY VISUAL ART

My name is Ms. Diaz, and this will be my fourth-year teaching K-4th grade art for Santa Fe Elementary through what we call Fun Friday. It started as a class where students just colored, drew and had a great time, however I have been able to include the history of famous artist that we know like Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo and many more. The students are always so excited to learn about new artist and practice new skills. Our school also has an Art Club in which previous years it only included 5th grade, however this year we will give our 4th graders their chance to join. The Santa Fe Art Club members meet every Wednesday after school to work on bigger projects than we already do during class. These students have had the opportunity to make banners for events, help other clubs in projects they may be working in, learn about cultures and different art, and participate in the multicultural fair for our district in which they display projects they each make. Art has become very important for the students at Santa Fe, and it gives them something to look forward to every week.
